Since 2008, Ghost Ship Halloween has been the Bay Area’s most elaborate and spectacular Halloween party. Founded by the legendary party scientists The Space Cowboys, Sunset Promotions joined the fun in the 2nd year, 2009. Usually held at one of the massive hangars at San Francisco’s Treasure Island, Ghost Ship moved ion 2013 to the epic Pier 70 of San Francisco. The event now features two days with multiple stages, gigantic sound, fantastic artcars, art installations, outlandish costumes and a brand-new originally constructed ghost ship each year. More than 3000 people work to construct Ghost Ship’s art installations from scratch every year and they are never seen again in that form. Most of the materials used for the construction are recycled inot next year’s art, making Ghost Ship not only a model of large-event creatin, but also artistic sustainability. Drawing more than 8000 people every year, the event typically sells out in short order as the audience has come to expect a level of art and production value unparalleled at most Halloween Parties. Among the production artists who have regularly graced our space are the likes of Peter Hudson, Michael Christian, Joel Dean Stockdill, Julia Russotti, Eli Spear, Joshua Short, Marco Cochrane, the Unbreakables, and the Death Guild Thunderdome. Musical talent begins with the Djs of the Space Cowboys and expands to the city’s top underground crews including the Janky Barge, Distrikt, Deep End, Brass Tax, Strategik and Sunsetsf.
