Fatboy Slim
Fatboy Slim
Born in the UK as Quentin Leo Cook on 31 July 1963. Married to radio DJ & television presenter Zoë Ball, thus son-in-law of British television personality Johnny Ball.

Cook adopted the new pseudonym Fatboy Slim in 1996. The Fatboy Slim album and Cook's second solo album Better Living Through Chemistry (released through Skint Records) contained the Top 40 UK hit, "Everybody Needs a 303".
Fatboy Slim's next work was the single "The Rockafeller Skank", released prior to the album You've Come a Long Way, Baby, both of which were released in 1998. "Praise You", also from this album, was Cook's first UK solo number one. Its music video, starring Spike Jonze, won numerous awards.
In 2000, Fatboy Slim released his third studio album, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, and featured two collaborations with Macy Gray and "Weapon of Choice", which also was made into an award-winning video starring Christopher Walken.
In 2003, he produced Crazy Beat and Gene by Gene from the Blur album Think Tank, and in 2004, Palookaville was Cook's first studio album for four years.
Fatboy Slim's greatest hits album Why Try Harder was released on 19 June 2006. It comprises eighteen tracks, including ten Top 40 singles, a couple of Number Ones and two exclusive new tracks – "Champion Sound" and "That Old Pair of Jeans". Most of the songs were shortened and heavily edited, resulting in almost fifteen minutes of unused space on the compact disc release. (wikipedia - edited)

Not simply a DJ, Norman Cook has surpassed this role as a producer whilst using one of many aliases; the chief one being Fatboy Slim.
Many UK DJ's have managed to crossover to a large extent in the US and beyond, however Norman Cook, under alias Fatboy Slim, has done much more than this.
Rather than being a faceless behind the decks head-down DJ, Norman's exuberant character whilst performing on the decks simply takes any audience with him regardless of the country or culture he is playing to.

His devotion to his chosen place of residence, Brighton, is legendary, even donning "I Love Brighton" T-shirts on occasion. Despite massive pressure to go wholly with a major label, he continues to stick with his original Brighton-based label Skint Records. He also has put-on two massive free beach parties on Brighton beach, as a thanks to the love and respect fellow residents of the city have given him.
On New Years Day 2007, he held the third beach event. Whilst it was forced to be scaled down and ticketed --due to Brighton City Council's heath & safety concerns-- this event shows his devotion to Brighton remains undiminished.
He staged a fourth event on Saturday 27 September 2008, "Big Beach Boutique 4" for Brighton residents only, just in time for the end of summer.

Galen
Galen
Galen founded Sunset Sound System with the idea of providing free, outdoor picnic-style parties where people could commune and dance while watching the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. Word spread quickly, and what began as a few friends with speakers and a generator turned into festivities of over 1,000 people within the first year. Today, Sunset Sound System is on the move, boasting big-name talent for their international boat parties, festival-style campouts and famed park gatherings.

The early Sunset events served as Galen’s creative outlet and a prime platform to perfect his technique. DJing meant extensive knowledge of music history, hard-earned vinyl collections, and truly intuitive mixing. Inspired by the psychedelic climate of the 90's San Francisco music scene Galen successfully grew himself into a household name that he maintains today, holding it down with the world’s top talent. His sets are thoughtful, yet never pre-planned, with artfully-timed track selections that spark any dance floor he touches, appealing to the old school just as much as the new.

Creative fusion with Claude VonStroke led to a killer remix of ‘80s breakbeat classic “Jam On It,” and a mutual profound love for pizza inspired him and Justin Martin to co-produce Dirtybird classics, “Dust Devil” and “Tumbleweed.” Soon after, he landed a coveted feature spot on Annie Nightingale’s Radio 1 Show where he impressed BBC listeners with his smooth mixing style. Most recently, Galen’s Sunset remix of “I Feel Love” by Get Physical charmer, Lopazz, catapulted to #1 on his Beatport chart.

The summer of 2013 opened European doors with a breakthrough appearance at Dirtybird’s Ibiza residency. At Croatia's Garden Festival, Galen shined on the Sunset Sound System Boat Party alongside Justin Martin, Eats Everything, and Solar. His new track, “ICANCU” has just been released on the Dirtybird BBQ Compilation and another "Your Own Style" is to coming out soon on Smoke N' Mirrors. 2014 also brings the boys of Sunset Sound System back to Croatia for another Garden Festival Boat Party among other European dates.

Influence
Influence
influence started his piratical career in a time called Ye Olden School. Quickly rising through ranks of deck swabbing, plank laying, wenching, & rumming; his golden years came to end upon the capture of his ship by a band of jolly rogers on the ship Strategik (they were good with a cannon, but not so much with spelling). Locked away in the ship's depths, every night he was told, "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." All seemed lost, so he got into Djing, took over the ship, called himself Influence, and the rest was basically, history... basically.

Platurn
Platurn
Man, who the hell isn't a DJ in the Bay Area these days? Every other person you bump into is on the tip. And just being a DJ isn't good enough anymore. It has to be, "I'm an intelligent downtempo booty rock electroclash mash-up glitch-IDM DJ. Oh, and I also play Duran Duran." When was it decided that any jerk with 10 records (or 100 MP3s and Serato) is a DJ, and when was it decided that just being a good old-fashioned hip-hop DJ is passé?

DJ Platurn is way beyond all that. He's a real-deal Hip-Hop DJ who rocks the party the original way: nothing but top-notch selection and skills to back it up. Give the man two turntables and a mixer and stand back because you're going to witness some classic DJing. He'll not only serve the crowd what they're hungry for, he'll keep 'em dancing with all kinds of tunes they didn't even know they wanted to hear. Cutting up breakbeats, doing blends live and on the fly, scratching, mixing…the guy's got the full skill set to be a fully-rounded DJ, and he's good at everything. Not only is that increasingly rare in today's "instant DJ–just add water!" world, it's a strong and important tie to the Hip-Hop tradition Platurn comes from: In order to get on and really do a good job as a DJ, you have to be well-rounded.

Being good at everything and being well-rounded also means being a top-notch selector, by the way, and Platurn ain't fakin' the funk when it comes to his record collection and what he plays for the crowd. Well-known cuts, obscurities, remixes, hip-hop, funk, rock, disco, soul, pop…it all gets woven together expertly. You want B-boy breaks? He's got you covered. Slow jams? Awwww yeeeeaaaah. Old-school hip-hop? Break out the Cazals, fool! Wherever the party needs to go, he is prepared to take it there.

And word certainly spreads quickly. Besides having been voted Oakland's best DJ by the East Bay Express and winning Scions' "Free Up Your Mix" competition along with fellow Oakland Fader DJ Spair, Platurn has devastated crowds from coast to coast and internationally, and in doing so, he's shared the stage with folks like Z-Trip, Krs-One, Mixmaster Mike, The Beat Junkies, DJ Premier, Slick Rick, Maseo (De La Soul), ZionI, Jazzy Jay, Quest-Love(The Roots), M.F. Doom, A-Trak, Afrika Bambaata, Pete Rock, and a whole bunch more. Not too bad for that tall skinny white guy from Iceland.
Shouts!
Shouts!
Shouts! is a project by San Francisco producer Jason C. Apple. After many years of producing as Ground Control, Shouts! was created as an outlet for his weirder, more emotive music that nevertheless works a dance floor. Focusing on deep, vocal house and garage, more than anything, Shouts! is about trying to figure out how a sound becomes a feeling.
DJ Sol
DJ Sol
DJ Sol (aka - Dave Bailey) comes from a background of 3 generations of musician's, so music has always been a very intrigal part of his life. His father Rich Bailey, who played sax in his own jazz group, was very influential in developing his wide range of musical tastes during his childhood. This was in part due to his appreciation of a very wide range of dancable music, everything from Jazz and Funk to Disco, Reggae & Soul.

While growing up in the L.A. area, he was always exposed to the newest forms of music first. In the late 70's and early 80's he started listening to the newly emerging urban music called hip hop, which is what attracted him to the art of DJ'ing. He was introduced in 1981 to 1983 to artists like Kurtis Blow, The Crash Crew, Afrika Bambaataa, Treacherous 3, Fearless 4, Funky 4+1, and of course Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5. While attending high school in Santa Monica California, he began collecting DJ records and started DJing at home. He began making mixed tapes and doing small parties with his close friends as a hobby. At this point, his passion for music and DJ'ing had really begun to take hold. However, in his quest for the next big thing he started leaning his musical ear towards another new form of danceable music, which was Alternative Rock. This included artists such as; The Cure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and The Smiths.

Further change was in 1988 -1992. It was during this time that he moved from LA to San Francisco to further his college education in broadcasting and studio engineering. He arrived just in time to be a part of the newly emerging San Francisco rave music scene. It was here that he was introduced to House, Techno and Trip-Hop at some of the infamous parties that took place during that era like, 'Space Children', 'Full Moon' and 'Wicked'. These parties featured some early pioneer's of DJ'ing that type of music, such as Doc Martin, Garth and Jeno. So he started aggressively pushing his DJ'ing career in 1995, which is when he started working with DJ friend Sean Evans (aka - DJ Seven), and hasn't looked back since.

The style of music he spins is constantly changing, but always remains cutting edge. He currently spins an eclectic combination of House, Breaks, Hip-Hop, Mash-up's, Reggae & Funk. He has been nominated for the past three years for one of SF's best DJ's on the Nitevibe.com's Dreamteam poll, and was also voted in the top five for SF-Nite.com's Clubby's awards held at Ruby Skye in 2000. He currently DJ's with NK7 productions and throws the b-weekly party Vivid, which is now in it's 4th year.
