Modern Biology’s Field Trip is part expedition, part musical performance, and part community gathering. HUSHconcerts is proud to present the Bay Area debut of this unique experience on Thursday May 11th, 2023 at 6-7pm in the Redwood Grove at UC Berkeley’s Botanical Garden.
Hosted by viral plant and mushroom ‘music’ artist Modern Biology, Field Trips happen as pop-up events in public nature settings. Using HUSHconcerts cutting edge HUSHglow wireless headphones, small groups of participants listen to the bioelectricity of flora and fungi as it is translated into relaxed, ambient soundscapes, and supplemented with live musical improvisation. In some locations, local naturalists add to the experience, helping us more deeply connect with the local biome.
“I just love experimenting in nature, and I’m stoked to share this practice. To rekindle wonder and fascination with the natural world – and to come together in community.”
Born of an idea first shared online, and sculpted by thousands of comments and dm’s, Modern Biology’s Field Trip is the crystallization of an online group nature-art project. These field trips also raise funds and awareness for local environmental non-profits.
Experience the bioelectrics of living plants directly as sound translated into music outdoors among them.
Ticket includes day-of admission to the UC Botanical Garden, a living museum of plants. Garden collections close at 5pm, Redwood Grove doors for the performance will open at 5pm.
